Cafe Toaster

1973 R60/5 with a R100 engine.
Lots of upgrades and fun!

I used to live in Santa Fe, NM and when I saw the ad for sale in Santa Fe for $400 back in 2004, I figured it would be a nice keepsake from my time there. I had the bike shipped to Los Angeles for another $400. It arrived at my office and I had to ride it a few miles home. It was a limping home at best… and I ended up pushing it the last few blocks. I had a feeling the bike was in a sad state of needing serious repair and I then realized it was time to tear it completely apart, and have fun with it.
I wanted to rebuild the R60/5 engine and then Dave Gardner of Recommended Service offered me a 1979 R100S engine, and offered to help me rebuild it. I figured it was a great opportunity to hot rod this old BMW and give it a much more powerful, and better designed engine.
The rear sets have since been replaced with Oshmo rear sets along with the top clamp.
